Minecraft Dungeons 2: First Sift Run & Co-op Setup
A first-session route for Minecraft Dungeons II: pick a platform, start the Sift, build a simple gear setup, and open a four-player co-op room.
Verified for version1.0
Minecraft Dungeons II is a dungeon crawler, not a building game. The first session is about finishing a Sift run, learning how gear synergies work, and setting up co-op if you want friends.
Pick your platform and edition
The game is on PC (Windows/Steam), Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch and Switch 2, with four-player co-op and cross-play. Steam lists Windows only; console versions come from the Xbox and Minecraft store pages. The standard edition is about $29.99 on Steam; the Deluxe Edition adds four hero skins, the Soul Cape, the Blub pet and DLC 1 and 2.
Start the Sift
The Sift is the new dimension reached through rifts. Follow the opening campaign until the first Sift run, then clear it at your own pace. Do not treat it as a race: the goal is to learn enemy types, pick up gear and see which enchantments drop.
Build around one idea
Loot includes weapons, armor, enchantments, talismans and artifacts. A weapon's value depends on its enchantments and artifacts, not just damage. Pick one damage plan for your first run (melee burst, ranged pressure, or tank/sustain) and put your best enchantments behind it. Do not spread resources across every slot.
Open co-op
Local and online co-op support up to four players, with cross-platform play. If you are hosting, start the session and invite friends from the lobby; if you are joining, make sure your platform's online subscription is active. Two players is a good first-run size for learning the Sift.
Claim the Hero Cape
If you played the first Minecraft Dungeons with the same Microsoft account, log into Dungeons II before 31 December 2026 to claim the Hero Cape. It also unlocks in Minecraft Java and Bedrock. Other capes come from editions, pre-orders and events; there is no universal code list, so verify before trusting one.
Start here
Finish the first Sift run, try one co-op session, and claim the Hero Cape. Before chasing a tier list or a code list, check your own gear and the official Capes & Promos page; both change faster than the fundamentals.
