Control Resonant: Getting Started & First Upgrades

A first-session route for Control Resonant: learn the Aberrant's hammer and blade forms, spend early ability points, and clear Manhattan without wasting resources.

Verified for version1.0

Control Resonant starts with a new weapon and a city that wants you dead, not with a long tutorial. This route covers the first session: learn both Aberrant forms, choose an early ability path, and avoid wasting resources on spread-out upgrades.

First session, in order

  1. Learn the hammer before the blades. Start with the slower form so you feel the commitment window; the blades will feel fast by comparison.
  2. Practise switching mid-fight. Open with the hammer, switch to blades when the enemy recovers or moves, and switch back when you need a heavy hit.
  3. Use the environment. Gravity anomalies and vertical routes are part of combat, not just traversal; pull enemies into spaces you control.
  4. Follow the main story until the first ability choice. Do not wander into a zone that is clearly above your current power.
  5. Clear one zone's side content before moving on. Resources and upgrades are the reason to explore; skipping everything leaves you underpowered.
  6. Commit to one ability path early. A focused build clears content faster than a spread of low-level abilities.
  7. Adjust difficulty if a fight stops being readable. The game supports adjustable difficulty; using it is better than bouncing off the combat.

Reading the fight

  • Hammer: heavy, committed, good against armor and enemies that stand their ground.
  • Blades: fast, mobile, good for openings and enemies that retreat.
  • Elemental abilities: use them to control space, not just to add damage.
  • Gravity anomalies: treat them as terrain advantages; the enemy's pathing is often the thing you are really fighting.

What to ignore at first

  • Collectible completion: it can wait until your core abilities are online.
  • Every side quest: pick the ones in your current zone; out-of-order content is a resource trap.
  • Perfect builds: this is a single-player action RPG, not a live-service meta; a build that fits your timing beats a copied ranking.

FAQ

Which Aberrant form should I use first in Control Resonant?

Start with the hammer so you feel the commitment window, then switch to the blades for mobile enemies. The weapon is designed to morph mid-fight, so neither form is meant to be permanent.

Should I explore every zone before the main story in Control Resonant?

No. Follow the main story until your core abilities are online, then clear side content in the zone you are already in. Wandering into a higher-level zone early wastes resources.
