Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is an action-adventure RPG from Bamtang Games, published by Trailmark Games and released on 23 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. It is inspired by the Warrior Cats novels: you create a cat, join a Clan, and explore the Lake Territories between turn-based battles.

Create a cat, choose a Clan

Character creation is the front door: Steam lists a cat creator, and the store description frames the game around making your own Warrior Cat. The launch announcement adds four Clan story campaigns, which means the choice is not only cosmetic. Pick the Clan whose story you want to follow; the sources we checked do not rank the campaigns by difficulty.

The setting is the Lake Territories, described on the store page as the backdrop for hunting, exploration and Clan battles. Prophecies are part of the story framing, so expect the campaign to move between personal cat business and Clan-level stakes.

How the game is structured

The loop alternates exploration and combat. You hunt and explore the territories, then resolve Clan conflicts in turn-based battles of up to 3v3. Steam's feature list also names three modes — Prophecy, Defender and Skirmish — without explaining their rules, so treat the campaign as the place to learn the systems before judging the side modes.

Turn-based combat with a three-cat team means positioning and target choice matter more than reflexes. The first campaign is where you learn which of your cats does what; do not rush to Skirmish before that lesson lands.

Dens, camp visits and the online question

Den customisation is named in the launch announcement, and Steam lists asynchronous friend camp visits. That is the extent of the online feature: you can visit friends' camps without both players being online at the same time.

Steam's categories list single-player only. For practical purposes, this is a solo game with a light asynchronous social layer, not a co-op RPG. If you are buying it to play through the story with a friend in real time, the store listing does not promise that.
