Volleyball Legends: How to Play 6v6
A Volleyball Legends beginner guide: the bump, set, spike, block and dive controls, how to start in pickup, how 6v6 positioning works and the mistakes that lose rallies.
Verified for version1.0
Volleyball Legends is easy to join and hard to play well. Six players cover each side, the ball moves quickly, and the five actions only work if the team uses them in the right order. This route starts in pickup, teaches one touch at a time, and saves ranked for when the controls are automatic.
First session
- Queue pickup, not ranked. Pickup gives you room to misjudge a ball without costing a competitive match.
- Learn bump first. Receiving is the touch you will use most, and a clean bump keeps the rally alive.
- Add set second. A set is not a wasted touch; it is the pass that lets a teammate attack.
- Use spike only when the ball is set up. Spiking a bad ball usually gives the point away.
- Practise block and dive last. They are situational, and diving at the wrong moment leaves the floor open.
- Watch court coverage. Six players cover the court; if everyone chases the same ball, the other side has an empty zone to hit.
Controls and what each touch is for
| Input | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Bump | The ball is coming at you fast and needs a controlled first contact |
| Set | A teammate is in a better position to attack |
| Spike | The ball is high enough to hit down over the net |
| Block | An opponent is attacking at the net |
| Dive | A ball is about to hit the floor and nobody else can reach it |
Check the in-game controls screen on PC or mobile for the current bindings; do not assume the layout from another volleyball game.
Playing 6v6 without chasing everything
The most common structural mistake is six players converging on one ball. Volleyball rewards coverage: if two teammates are already on the ball, your job is to cover the space they leave, not to join the pile. Stay in your zone until the ball actually comes to you.
The second habit is patience. A bump that keeps the rally alive is not a wasted touch. A wild spike that ends the rally is. On defense, block first and dive only when the ball has beaten the block.
Beginner mistakes
- Chasing every ball. It looks energetic and leaves half the court empty.
- Spiking every contact. Some balls are for setting, not attacking.
- Ignoring the set. A team that never sets has no second option.
- Diving too early. A dive takes you out of position; use it as a last resort.
- Jumping into ranked on day one. Ranked assumes the controls are already familiar.
- Playing one match and judging the game. A 6v6 rally depends on teammates as much as on you.
Start in pickup, learn bump and set first, and add the attack only when the ball and your position both support it.
