Endless Legend 2 Guides: Factions & 4X Basics

Endless Legend 2 guide hub — how the changing tides redraw the map, why factions play nothing alike, and what to learn before building a custom faction.

Verified for version1.0

ENDLESS Legend 2 is an asymmetric fantasy 4X where the map is not fixed. Tides and seasons reshape which land is colonisable, so a strong position this era can be a coastline next era — and the factions around you are designed to exploit that differently.

The tides change what "good land" means

Because the water level moves, expansion is a rhythm rather than a land grab: settle what the current era exposes, plan for what the next era floods, and never assume a border is stable. Players who treat the map as static will find their best cities become beaches.

Factions are the game

Each faction brings its own economy, military doctrine and rules — asymmetry here is not a stat bonus, it is a different opening. That is why the recommended path is to learn one official faction completely before touching custom factions: trait mixing only makes sense once you know what a normal economy costs.

Battles: manual or automatic

Tactical battles can be resolved by hand or automated. The manual layer rewards positioning and unit composition, so use it when a fight matters and automate when it does not — the skill is knowing which is which.

Winning, not just surviving

Multiple victory paths mean you are rarely locked into a single plan, but they also mean an opponent can win while you are busy winning a different way. Watch what each rival is actually accumulating, not just their army size.

FAQ

Is Endless Legend 2 released?

Yes. It left Early Access with the 1.0 release on 17 September 2026.

Do I need to have played the first Endless Legend?

No. It is a standalone 4X in the Endless universe; the tide mechanic and asymmetric factions are new enough that series veterans relearn alongside newcomers.

Can you play multiplayer?

Yes — Steam lists both single-player and online PvP. It is a turn-based game, so multiplayer is the slow, deliberate kind.

Which platforms is it on?

PC via Steam, which is what this page's facts are verified against. Console versions appear in publisher marketing but are outside what we verified here.

Can I build my own faction?

Yes — the store page confirms you can mix traits to design a custom faction. Learn one official faction's economy first, or you will not know which traits you are trading away.
