Emberville: Getting Started in Early Access

Your first hours in Emberville — rescue order, the production chain those rescues unlock, and how to pick a class without locking yourself in.

Verified for versionEarly Access

Emberville in Early Access is a game about two loops overlapping: you descend into Vitromotus to free people and gather materials, and you build the town above so the next descent goes better. Understanding that trade — depth for infrastructure — is most of the early game.

Your first hours, in order

  1. Rescue before you grind. Survivors unlock production chains; a town with more people opens more of the game than a character with more levels.
  2. Build the functional core of the town: storage, crafting and the cooking you actually use. Decoration can wait for a patch where you have spare materials.
  3. Pick a weapon type you enjoy, then a class that supports it. You can switch and inherit abilities later, so the first pick is a direction, not a commitment.
  4. Learn the combo layer before the ability layer. Weapon combos are your baseline; class actives and passives are multipliers on top of them.
  5. Push into Vitromotus until the resistance, not your gear, tells you to stop. Early-to-mid content is the EA scope — the wall you hit is usually a production gap, not a skill gap.
  6. Treat every death as a read on your build. The game's kymia system is built around coming back, so use respawns to test what actually works.
  7. Support both keyboard/mouse and controller play. EA supports both; switch early to whichever you fight better with rather than whichever you started with.

Playing Early Access on purpose

Because content and balance will move, invest in understanding rather than in a single perfect setup: know why your production works, and the patches will not strand you. Keep an eye on roadmap items — more bosses, biomes and difficulty options are planned, which means today's endgame is tomorrow's mid-game.

FAQ

What should I do first in Emberville?

Rescue survivors. Each one adds a production option to the town, and production is what lets you fight deeper into Vitromotus instead of repeating the same floor.

Which class should I start with?

One whose weapon type you enjoy, since abilities can be switched and inherited later. Starting a class is a starting point, not a life sentence.

Should I build a big base early?

Build for function first — storage, crafting and the cooking you actually use. Estate decoration is for when the prison stops being the bottleneck.
